Break the butter into little pieces, add sugar and mix until it is creamy.
Add milk
Add eggs one at a time.
Melt the chocolate in a cup over some steam, then add it to the butter/sugar/egg mixture.
Add vanilla and mix well.
Bake in two 9" plates at 350F for 25 minute.
Cover with the caramel icing.
Icing
1 1/2 cup of brown sugar
1 1/2 cup of sugar
1 1/2 cup of milk
2 tablespoon of butter
Combine the milk, brown sugar and sugar and mix until the mixture is boiling. Leave boiling, without mixing, until it forms a soft ball when dropped in cold water.
Add butter and remove from the heat. When it is lukewarm, beat until it looks firmer and is opaque.
